We aren’t postracial, no matter how much everyone says we’ve gotten past our race issues or denies the racist language of so many in the GOP — including Trump. Perhaps there should be some rephrasing: The folks who have gotten past race are largely the same folks who didn’t have to deal with it in the first place. Privilege has its, well, privileges.

This doesn’t make sense in my head. For one thing “postracial” implies that there are no races anymore, which, of course, there are. Fact of life. Just how biology worked out or something; I don’t really understand why. Also “folks who have gotten past race are largely the same folks who didn’t have to deal with it in the first place.” What? In my experience, the people with the privileges are the ones causing the problem for the minority and making it seem impossible to ever get past the divide. Example - it’s not trans* people who are stopping that group from being accepted, it’s cis-people. Not all cis-people, of course, but the one’s causing the problem are, for the most part, cisgendered.
